A summer break: Pausing How True posts for a bit
It's summer time and it's time for the livin' to be easier for a while. I expect to resume posting to How True at some point in July.
Big thanks to all of you for reading my posts and providing your feedback and encouragement. But coming up on a year of mostly weekly posts, it’s time for a break.
I’ll be doing some traveling, and I’m looking forward to doing some reading not necessarily in pursuit of an angle for How True.
Special thanks to those of you who have become paying subscribers. I’ve paused payments during this break. Annual subscribers will have their paid subs extended without charge for the number of days I end up pausing. For any monthly subscribers who’ve been charged recently, I’ll extend the payment pause for an extra couple of weeks when I resume posting.

If anything shows up on your credit card statement that looks questionable, just send me an email at bmitch@gmail.com and I’ll clear it up.
If you’re a new or recent subscriber — or perhaps missed them the first time around — here are four posts that have proved especially popular over the past year:
One last walk with Merle: A family gathering to scatter her ashes includes a slightly delayed celebration of a strong and kind and brilliant woman.
From an emptied newsroom to life with AI: Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing how we get at the truth, and now’s the time to begin using it. In this edition: how I’m using it, pitfalls to watch for, a survey to share your experiences.
Your phone as an instrument of truth: Journalists can’t be everywhere. Why the new Fourth Estate needs you to press RECORD.
What to do about Trump’s truth decay: Five steps we can all take to resist his authoritarian distortion of reality
I may publish a post or two during this break, so don’t be too surprised if How True pops up in your inbox.
I also welcome your feedback about what you’ve found useful or interesting in this space, as well as suggestions for what I should focus on in the next chapter.
In any event, I look forward to resuming my regular posting at some point next month.
I hope your summer is off to a good start!
— Bill

I trust you and Carol will enjoy some summer fun with your loved ones!
